Recreational Ballet Classes For Ages 2 – 8

 

Home School Classes and Special Needs Classes


In the Recreational Division – Ballet, students are taught the foundations of Classical Ballet while encouraging self-confidence, focus, discipline, and self esteem in a Christian environment.  Turning Pointe’s highly trained instructors wish to enhance your dancer’s love of our Lord while encouraging your dancer to reach their highest potential.  


All classes run for the 34 week school year unless otherwise noted

The stated price is charged 9 monthly payments with the exception of Storytime Ballet and Uniquely Gifted Dance

Toddler and Preschool Classes

Storytime Ballet is for students who are two years old by the first day of class.  Students practice listening skills during the brief story time, then use motor skills during the story-themed dance and movement activities. Cost is  $85.00 for 8 week session (Paid in full.  No refunds). Maximum class size 10. In-studio parent observation on the last day.

Storytime Ballet 8 Week Sessions:

Fall: Sept 23rd week-Nov 11th  week 

Winter: Jan 13th week-March 2nd week 

Spring: March 9th-May 4th week

Preschool Ballet and Preschool Ballet/Tap are introductory dance classes for students who are 3 (potty trained by the first day of class) and 4 years old.  Our carefully-constructed curriculum focuses on pre-ballet motor movement and ballet fundamentals with an introduction to class etiquette in a supportive and fun environment. Classes start with an age-appropriate devotion. Maximum class size 12.

Preschool classes run the for school year. Parents  may watch through a glass window and also have two Observation Weeks per year to sit in the studio and watch students take class. Dancers do an informal, in-studio performance at Christmas and they also perform in the End Of Year Showcase. (Showcase Costume and Participation fees apply.)

 

 

Recreational Ballet Classes from Age 5

Recreational Ballet classes are held once-a-week. Our carefully-constructed curriculum focuses on ballet fundamentals along with class etiquette and self discipline in a supportive and fun, Christian environment. Classes start with an age-appropriate devotion.

Parent Observation Week occurs in Fall and Winter. Dancers do an informal, in-studio performance at Christmas and also perform in the End of Year Showcase (Showcase Costume and Participation fees apply).  Classes run through the school year.

Kinder Ballet and Kinder Ballet/Tap are for students who are 5 and 6 years old. No experience needed. Maximum class size 12

Youth Ballet 1 is for 6 and 7 year olds. No experience needed. Maximum class size 12

 

Youth Ballet 2 is for 7 year olds with previous full year experience.  Parents of dancers with full-year experience please call the office to inquire about placement. 

Youth Ballet 3 is designed for 8 and 9 year olds who prefer to take ballet once a week. No experience is required.

Uniquely Gifted - Special Needs - Classes

Uniquely Gifted Dance is an eight week Creative movement class for students with Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, or any other developmental or mobility challenge. Caregivers are welcome in class. The class is taught by Amy Punch, University of Alabama, former professional dancer with specialized training in leading creative movement for specialized populations.

Tuition is sponsored by generous donors. Parents pay a $25 Registration fee. Dress Code:  Turning Pointe tee shirt and black stretch pants.

 Eight Week Sessions:

Fall: September 23rd week-November 11th  week

Winter: January 13th week-March 2nd week

Spring: March 9th week-May 4th week

Home School Ballet Classes Ages 6-18

Turning Pointe School of Dance proudly participates with the Hamilton Home School Partnership and the Jenison International Academy Home School Partnership. We have over 50 students in our school whose tution is covered (or mostly covered) by their Home School Partnership. If you are a Home School parent, please email our School Administrator at: connieb@turningpointedance.org for more information on these programs. 

Please note: Participants in a Home School Partnership program may take ANY class that Turning Pointe offers and are often able to take TWO classes because of our Multiple Class Discount! Partnerships cover an amount of tuition per month, not a number of classes. To understand how this works please call the School Administrator at (616) 394-7109. She loves to help families make the most of this program!

Home School Ballet is a multi-age class for students from age 6. No experience is needed. 

 

Home School Christian Hip Hop directly follows this class. Second classes are 40% off! Christian Hip Hop is a great way to learn the Hip Hop dance style in a safe, God-glorifying environment! Family-friendly music and dance movements make this class popular with students and parents alike!  

 

Home School students who are 8 years and older who are wanting more intense Ballet study are encouraged to take Training Division Level 1A or Training Division 1A/1B Hudsonville. Click here for more information about the Training Division, or call the office to talk with the School Administrator.
