Recreational Ballet Classes For Ages 2 – 8
Home School and Special Needs Classes
In the Recreational Division – Ballet, students are taught the foundations of Classical Ballet while encouraging self-confidence, focus, and self esteem in a Christian environment. The instructors at Turning Pointe wish to enhance your dancer’s love of our Lord while encouraging your dancer to reach their highest potential. These classes are open to all students and hope to promote creativity, discipline, and spirituality.
All classes run for the 34 week school year unless otherwise noted
The stated price is charged 9 monthly payments with the exception of Storytime Ballet and Uniquely Gifted
Toddler and Preschool Classes
Storytime Ballet is for students who are two years old by the first day of class. Students practice listening skills during the brief story time, then use motor skills during the story-themed dance and movement activities. Cost is $85.00 for 8 week session (Paid in full. No refunds). Maximum class size 12. In-studio parent observation on the last day.
Storytime Ballet 8 Week Sessions:
Fall: September 24th week-November 12th week Winter: January 14th week-March 4th week Spring: March 11th-May 6th week
Preschool Ballet and Preschool Ballet/Tap are introductory dance classes for students who are 3 (and potty trained by the first day of class) and 4 years old. Classes focus on pre-ballet motor movement and ballet fundamentals with an introduction to class etiquette while in a supportive and fun environment. Maximum class size 12.
Preschool classes run the for school year. Parents may watch through a glass window and also have two Observation Weeks per year to sit in the studio and watch students take class. Dancers do an informal, in-studio performance at Christmas and they perform in the End Of Year Showcase. (Showcase Costume and Particiation fees apply.)
Recreational Ballet Classes for Ages 5-8
Classes are once-a-week and focus on ballet fundamentals along with class etiquette and self discipline while in a supportive and fun, Christian environment. Dancers do an informal, in-studio performance at Christmas and perform in the End of Year Showcase (Showcase Costume and Participation fees apply). Classes run through the school year.
Kinder Ballet and Kinder Ballet/Tap are for students who are 5 and 6 years old. No experience needed. Maximum class size 12
Youth Ballet 1 is for 6 and 7 year olds. No experience needed. Maximum class size 12
Youth Ballet 2 requires experience. Please call the office to inquire about placement.
Students from age 8 take twice weekly Classical Ballet classes in the Training Division, For more information click here.
Uniquely Gifted - Special Needs - Classes
Eight Week Sessions
Fall: September 27th-November 15th Winter: January 17th-March 7th Spring: March 14th-May 9th
Eight week Creative movement class for students with Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, or any other developmental or mobility challenge. Caregivers are welcome in class. Taught by Amy Punch, University of Alabama, former professional dancer with specialized training in leading creative movement for specialized populations.
Turning Pointe offers two classes, one for students ages 4-7 and one for students ages 8-16. Each class is limited to 12 students.
Tuition is sponsored by donors. $20 Registration fee and Turning Pointe tee shirt purchase required.
Home School Ballet Classes Ages 6-18
Turning Pointe School of Dance proudly participates with the Hamilton Home School Partnership and the Jenison International Academy Home School Partnership. We have over 50 students in our school whose tution is covered (or mostly covered) by their Home School Partnership. If you are a Home School parent, please email our School Administrator at: firstname.lastname@example.org for more information on these programs. We are always open to adding on a new partnerships!
Please note: Participants in a Home School Partnership may take ANY class that Turning Pointe offers.

Home School Ballet is a multi-age class for students from age 6. No experience is needed. Please note that Home School Christian Hip Hop directly follows this class. Second classes are 40% off!
Home School students who are 8 years and older who are wanting more intense study are encouraged to take Training Division Level 1A, Training Division 1A/1B Hudsonville, or Training Division 1A/1B Teen.
